The HORDE family had a family chapel in the parish church (see above). Thomas HORDE of Cote House (about 3 km east of Bampton) married Barbara TRINDER and was thus Brother in Law of William JORDAN of Burford, Oxon, and Father in Law to Jane BRAY (nee RAINTON) of Shilton, Oxon.Thomas entered into several transactions with Reginald BRAY of Great Barrington, Gloucs, (presumably Jane's husband) that involved land in Shilton and Taplow. Other participants in these transactions included: Henry HEYLYN of Minster Lovell, Oxon, esq (Hey/II/iii/7-9); Sir Dennis HAMPSON of Taplow, Bucks, bart (Hey/II/iii/7-9); John BODENHAM of Rotherwas, Herefordshire, Esq. (Hey/II/iii/10-11); Thomas TURNER of Kelmscott, Oxon, gent. (Hey/II/iii/10-11); Charles TRINDER of Bourton on the water, Glos, gent. (Hey/II/iii/10-11); Jane JORDAN of Burford, Oxon, widow (Hey/II/iii/12-13). The relationship charts elsewhere on this site mention some HORDE family members.
